Joseph Football Home Game
Friday, Sep. 1st 2023
Start Time: 7pm

Joseph Charter After School Clubs with Mr. Fulfer
When: Every day (Starting Sep. 11th) from 3:30 – 4:45
Mondays: Strategic Game Club
Focus: Each Monday, Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to Strategic Game Club. Our primary focus will be strategy games that help develop cognitive, social, and problem solving skills. We will play a diverse range of games such as Chess, Checkers, Risk, Settlers of Catan, trivia games and encourage students to bring their own games to share with the club. We will play both long form and short form games and even enter chess tournaments.
Tuesdays: Book Club
Focus: Each Tuesday, 7th grade through 12th grade are invited to Book Club. We will all read a book together with targeted goals of completion, discuss along the way, and if a film exists we will follow up with the film after we complete the book. Book clubs are a great way to motivate students to read and have them share their ideas and perspective with their peers. Reading books help foster curiosity and a habit of learning.
Wednesdays: History Club
Focus: Each Tuesday, 5th grade through 12th grade are invited to History Club. Those students who have a passion for history and want the opportunity to delve more into specific topics that there isn’t often time to cover in class. We will brainstorm topics we want to cover over the year and utilize various formats between texts, film, speak with local community members to learn and discuss a wide range of historical topics. We will engage in competition style debates and do full mock trials where we will put historical figures on trial. Students will either defend or prosecute these historical figures. The goal will be to bring history into to the daily lives of our students rather than just solely in a textbook or lecture.
Thursday: Kindness Club
Focus: Each Thursday, 5th grade through 12th grade are invited to Kindness Club. We will work as a group to identify those in our community or throughout the world who could use a little help. We will pick up litter, rake leaves, do food drives, or fundraise for charities. I have partnered with charities in Africa and the Middle East who the students will be able to connect with personally and help raise money for orphan’s education and homeless refugees. Volunteering to help others helps students grow from new experiences, improves their communication skills, connects you to your community and world around you, and makes a real difference in the lives of others. Helping others develops confidence, empathy, and leadership skills. This club will also help students learn about issues that others face in their community and around the world and how even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference.
